BRITISH ISLES

Day 1  –  USA-UK long haul international flight

Day 2  – London-Edinburgh 

Our flight will arrive in LONDON.  You will have the rest of the day to explore the city.  Take the double-decker bus tour to see the highlights such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, London Eye, Buckingham Palace

Day 3 Edinburgh 

In the morning, we will take a fast train to Edinburgh.   You will have free time to explore Edinburgh Castle and walk the Royal Mile.  See where the Harry Potter books got their start at the Elephant House.  Take in the most beautiful views of the city at the top of Calton Hill.

These summer days are long and give you plenty of light.  Sunsets on this trip will occur after 10:00 pm.

Day 4 – Edinburgh-Loch Ard

First thing in the morning we will visit the Palace of Holyrood House.  You can take an audio-guided tour through one of the Royal residences of the Queen of England.  Learn the history of the palace that was once occupied by Mary Queen of Scots.

A short 20 miles from Edinburgh, we will head to nearby Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots.  The palace (constructed in the 14th century) is now in ruins, but you can still wander its corridors and climb it’s winding staircases.  

From Linlithgow, we will travel to the National Wallace Monument.  This world-famous monument is a 220-foot Victorian stone tower built to commemorate the Scottish patriot and martyr, Sir William Wallace.  You can climb 246 steps to the top for a spectacular view of Stirling.

We now head to Stirling Castle, one of the largest and most important castles of Scotland.  Several Scottish Kings and Queens have been crowned here, including Mary Queen of Scots in 1542.  

We will travel to nearby Loch Ard, to check into our hotel.

Day 5 – Scottish Highlands, Glencoe, Isle of Skye

Today we will explore the Scottish Highlands.  Our first stop will be Trossachs Woolen Mill where we will stop for photos and a restroom break.  We will continue on to the “meeting of 3 waters” to take some photos.  We will stop in Fort William for lunch.  After lunch, we will make a stop at the Glenfinnan Viaduct, the filming location for some of the most recognizable scenes from the Harry Potter movies.  

We will continue to Mallaig, where we will take a ferry across to the Isle of Skye.

Day 6 -Isle of Skye-Inverness

In the morning, we will drive by Old Man of Storr, a large pinnacle of rock that stands high and can be seen for miles around.  We will proceed to Mealtfalls waterfall for photos and then enjoy a walk at the Quiraing trail.  From Quiraing, we will travel to Eilean Donan Castle.   We will have lunch and you will have time to explore the grounds and inside the castle.  The castle was involved in the Jacobite risings – series of rebellions and battles aiming to restore James II to power.  We will continue on to the famous Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle.

Day 7 – Inverness-London (Derry)

This morning, we will take a flight from Scotland to Northern Ireland.  Once we arrive at the airport, we will make our way to Dark Hedges – best known in the Game of Thrones series.  We will then head for nearby Carrick a rede (a rope bridge spanning 65 feet and 100 feet high with striking views of the North Atlantic Ocean.  We will also explore Giant’s Causeway, an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns which was the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption.  We will take a photo stop at Dunluce Castle and then end our day in Londonderry.

Day 8 – London (Derry)- Castle Stay

We will depart London (Derry) in the morning and take a scenic drive into Ireland.  We will arrive early in the afternoon so you can enjoy some free time on the castle grounds.

Day 9 – Ashford Castle-Dublin

This morning, we say goodbye to our Castle Stay and head to the famous Cliffs of Moher.  People come from all over the world to see the cliffs.  They have been featured in movies such as “The Princess Bride” and “Harry Potter, The Deathly Hallows”.  We will make our way to Dublin, where we will make a stop and take some time to see Temple Bar.

Day 10 – LONDON

We will catch a morning flight back to London, where we can pick up where we left off seeing the many sights of the city.

Day 11 – LONDON-LAS

Today we say farewell to the British Isles as we catch our international flight back to the United States.

  1. Interested in this tour of the British Isles. We have a 16 year old who would be joining us. Is there an age minimum, and are hotels friendly for family of 3?

    1. Hi Denise! The deposit is $600 to reserve your spot. You don’t have to do all of the tours – we offer the excursions at a group discount, but you can choose which ones you would like to participate in. If you choose not to participate, you can have free time in the location where we are that day. Tours vary depending on what it is, but we offer an all-excursion package for $125 which includes the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Eilean Donan Castle, Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge, Giant’s Causeway, Cliffs of Moher, plus the Explorer Pass which includes (Urquhart, Stirling, Linlithgow & Edinburgh Castles).   2. it appears you are departing from LAS which is in Nevada. I am in NC can I just leave from say Charlotte NC and meet group in country we are set to tour?
